  • P.F. Sloan was the mysteriously low-profile songwriter responsible for such 1960s hits as Johnny Rivers's "Secret Agent Man" and Barry McGuire's "Eve of Destruction." Sloan quit the biz following his heyday, and 2006's SAILOVER is his first album in nearly 30 years. It's full of new songs that echo "Eve"'s Dylanesque folk-rock leanings, yet the set feels contemporary and relevant thanks in part to guest appearances from both Lucinda Williams and the Pixies' Frank Black.
Professional Reviews
No Depression (pp.121-122) - "Sloan's songs teeter precariously between profound and precious, though they fall on the right side more often than not."
