  • John Waters' Cry-Baby goes hand in hand with Hairspray, and is a musical film that will probably appeal more to Waters' fans than fans of musical cinema. The music on the soundtrack is energetic and exciting; its bizarre nature is probably due to the scenes from the film rather than its own oddities. Waters describes it as "music that proved kids knew how to be bad before sex, drugs, and rock & roll." Songs like "Doin' Time for Bein' Young" and "High School Hellcats" are good rock & roll songs. James Intveld provides most of the vocals. ~ Peter Fawthrop

Thisis a great album for fans of the movie, or just fans of this genre of music. There are some really great classics on here that really capture the mood and the moment of the film, but even if you've never seen it, there is still much enjoyment to be had just by listening to the tracks on this cd.

this track definately captures the feeling of the movie, and in part creates the right mood for the movie at the same time. From classics like Mr Sandman to High School Hellcats, this is a true piece of work, pure 80s Grease type love songs in a way, which really sets the film in the time that it is trying to recreate. Really really enjoyable
