Louis Hayward stars as Simon Templar, aka The Saint, in the first film of the crime drama series. Following the murder of a police officer, Templar is hired by William Valcross (Frederick Burton) to eliminate a number of the city's ruthless gangsters and soon learns that they all work under an unidentified boss known only as 'Big Fellow'. The Saint's one route to revealing the mobster is through the mysterious man's assistant, Fay Edwards (Kay Sutton). Attracted to one another, Templar and Fay become close but will she agree to help him?
