Triple-bill of family adventures. In 'Mee Shee - The Water Giant' (2005), nine-year-old Mac (Daniel Magder) is devastated when his father cancels a planned trip to Disneyworld because of work commitments. However, things start to look up when Mac arrives at the remote lake where his father is working and stumbles upon a mythical water creature rumoured to live there. With oil developers moving in to destroy the creature's habitat, it's a race against time for Mac to save his new friend. 'Zathura' (2005), stars Jonah Bobo and Josh Hutcherson as two brothers, Danny and Walter. Despite their squabbling, the brothers manage to cooperate just long enough to play an old mechanical board game named Zathura. However, after their first move, they find that the game has apparently flung them, their sister and their entire house into outer space. Furthermore, the brothers surmise the only way to return home is to finish the game. But with almost every move, new dangers arise as the siblings find themselves learning to cooperate in ways they never expected as they realise what they mean to each other. Finally, in 'Magic in the Water' (1995), a lakeside holiday brings young Ashley (Sarah Wayne) into contact with Orky, a cookie-loving sea monster whose magical intervention brings her family closer together. However, Orky's life is endangered by wicked, environment unfriendly industrialists who want to use the lake as a chemical dumping ground, so Ashley, brother Josh (Joshua Jackson) and her sceptical father (Mark Harmon) step in to protect him.

Zathura is a fairly good film starring Jonah Bobo. The premise is a little far fetched, but it works, and in my opinion offers a fairly believable story. The film is funny, and the finale is very climatic and offers a great ending. In my opinion, well worth the $43.
