Surprisingly touching film about a single author who adopts an older child. The boy things he's from Mars. This is based on a true story which was nice to know, and apparently quite accurate according to interviews on set (except the author was changed to become straight when he was gay, which seems mildly offensive to me, but oh well). Great acting here by John Cusack and Bobby Coleman, though his whispering act gets tiring after a while. Showed this to some other people I know who liked it. Enjoyable way to pass time and some very cute scenes. The whole "adult and child who are slight outcasts form a bond" is a cliche but it worked well here.
