The Desert Rats is an entertaining low budget war film based upon the exploits of Australian soldiers at Tobruk, led by British Captain Richard Burton. There are some nice battle scenes and Burton even gets to meet Field Marshall Rommel, played by James Mason. This is a role Mason reprised from earlier film The Desert Fox.
