Bret Easton Ellis' disturbing novel is brought to the screen by Mary Harron. In 1987, twentysomething Wall Street broker Patrick Bateman (Christian Bale) seems to have it all: he is handsome, successful and engaged to the beautiful Evelyn (Reese Witherspoon). However, Patrick is also engaged in an affair with Courtney Rawlinson (Samantha Mathis) - his colleague's fiancée - and at night indulges in a confused orgy of drugs, pornography, prostitution and murder fantasies. When Patrick is outshone by a rival at a board meeting, he takes out his frustration by knifing a man sleeping rough in the street. This sparks off a descent into violence and madness, with Patrick embarking on a bloody and random killing spree.

Synopsis

Patrick Bateman is a high powered Wall Street executive rich, handsome and highly intelligent. In many ways he's just like everyone else enjoying the excesses of America in the 80's. But unlike his colleagues, Patrick prefers murders and executions to mergers and acquisitions! Christian Bale gives a razor sharp performance as the yuppie killer in this the long awaited film version of one of the most controversial novels ever published. Also starring Willem Dafoe (from THE ENGLISH PATIENT), Reese Witherspoon (from CRUEL INTENTIONS), Jared Leto (from FIGHT CLUB) and Chloe Sevigny (from BOYS DON'T CRY), AMERICAN PSYCHO is by turns hilarious and horrific - an acclaimed, original piece of movie making that you must see and will not forget.

This is a Region 4 disc. A multi-region player may be required in order to play this disc in this part of the world.

Patrick Bateman is handsome, well educated and intelligent. He is twenty-seven and living his own American dream. He works by day on Wall Street, earning a fortune to complement the one he was born with. At night he descends into madness, as he experiments with fear and violence. wow this movie was quite good to be honest. u could see it AHAHHA

Christian Bale gives it his all in this thriller that borders on horror about a business man who has a tendency for killing people. What starts out as being a couple murders here and there turns into a bloodbath as he tries to keep his secret. Some will enjoy this film and others hate it, and its biggest flaw is that it tries to end in a twist, but doesn't really work.

Patrick Bateman, a young, well to do man working on wall street at his father's company kills for no reason at all. As his life progresses his hatred for the world becomes more and more intense. Based on the book by Bret Easton Ellis.
