Reviews

"This volume edited by Arnold (Univ. of Bath, UK) and Fletcher (Loughborough Univ., UK) is a comprehensive text discussing the relationship between stress and well-being, and exploring the implications for optimal performance. The book is divided into four parts, each with an overarching theme: "Appraising and Coping with Stress in Sport," "Responses to and Outcomes of Stress in Sport," "Moderators of the Stress Process in Sport," and "Stress Management to Promote Thriving in Sport." Each part comprises a variety of chapters, combining research, theory, and practice to address each respective topic. Topics discussed include personality, emotions, coping, resilience, thriving, and mental health, among others. The text provides a concise yet thorough understanding of how stress and pressure can impact both mental health and physical performance. Included in most chapters are practical implications, particularly helpful for instructors, coaches, practitioners, and performers themselves."- CHOICE Outstanding Academic Titles Jan 2021
