About the Author

RICHARD GIULIANOTTI is a Senior Lecturer in Sociology at the University of Aberdeen. He is the author of Football: A Sociology of the Global Game (1999), and Sport: A Critical Sociology (2004). He is co-editor of numerous books on sport, most recently (with G.Armstrong) Football in Africa (2004) and Fear and Loathing in World Football (2001).
