Sofia Kaye has one dream: to get a degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. That is the only thing she's sure will rid her of the "loser" foster kid stigma that has followed her around for most of her life. She has already received her acceptance letter into MIT, which is half the battle. Now, all she has to do is collect the money from the new reality TV show to pay for the part of the tuition her scholarship doesn't cover.

But when Sofia shows up in France where the reality show is set to tape, she and two fellow contestants, Zach and Liv, discover the show is rigged. They're also pretty sure Makin Daher, the billionaire tycoon behind the show, isn't on the up and up, either.

As the three try to figure out what's going on, Daher coerces Liv into going to Egypt with him, and a mysterious man, who claims Daher is an Anunnaki, an alien from the planet Nibiru intent on taking over Earth, persuades Sofia and Zach into letting him help them get Liv back.

But after all the strange things that have happened, Sofia, Zach, and Liv don't even know what to believe anymore. They aren't even sure what is truth and what is fiction or who is friend and who is foe. But they are sure of one thing-that this is no longer a game, and all three of their lives are in danger, as is Earth's future.
