A thematically arranged set of readings This anthology brings together 26 readings from the classic works of German Idealist philosophy. The four towering figures - Kant, Fichte, Hegel and Schelling - are given extensive coverage, while the work of Schiller is also included. A general introduction sets out the main contours of German idealism, while introductions to each reading set each piece in thematic context. The selections are thematically arranged for ease of teaching and are grouped into the seven major concerns of the German Idealists: subjectivity freedom and morality state and citizen art history nature religion The different sections enable readers to concentrate on the development of the ideas throughout the period as well as to see the distinctive differences between the individual philosophers.
