Njeri's affinity for reading was sparked early. She was a kid who lovedcompleting Reading Laboratories. As a parent she continued her love for reading andphonics with her son. Njeri's writing career started when she developed anetworking/blogging website for parents and kids. She's also published several essaysabout black women and girls. So it comes as no surprise that she has gravitated tochildren's literature with a vision to inspire little readers to see themselves reflected inher work. The Everything is Magical Coloring and Activity Book was the first step into bookpublishing. The idea and vision for the book was sparked while planning a unicorn, butterfly tea party for her daughter. She had an aha moment while seeing the girlsplaying around with wings and their natural hair at the tea party. She hopes to inspire imagination, self-love and adventure in the lives of children whoread her books. Njeri is a native Washingtonian who still resides in her hometown. Sheis enjoying life at home with her two children (one is officially an adult); and an adoptedcat named Mr. Flash.
"What a wonderful and beautiful book presentation filled with
beautifully drawn characters. I love it. My children were extremely
excited. As a parent, we welcome diversity as a learning tool for
our children and this flows in that direction.
"Representation is always important. It was wonderful to see images
that resemble me staring back page after page. The wide noses and
full lips brought joy to my heart. The activities can allow for
rich discussions to take place between the fun."
My daughter loves any and everything unicorns! Hearing her say
"mommy she has hair like me" or "she looks like my cousin" makes me
smile. I think this is a great thing that you are doing for ALL
little girls
My daughter loves her new coloring book and I wish I could have
caught it on camera but when she first saw it she said "this is so
magical!
