Encyclopedia Brown, the secret weapon in Idaville's war on crime, is back--with 10 all-new mysteries to solve. Bugs Meany and his tricky Tigers are back, too. And Wilford Wiggins, lazy as a bedpost, is still dreaming up ways to part little kids from their allowances. But with the help of Sally Kimball, the prettiest (and the toughest) girl in the fifth grade, Encyclopedia can solve any case. From Pablo's missing nose to racing reptiles that become snake snacks, the answers to all the cases are in the back of the book--but can you solve them on your own first?

His awards include a special Edgar Award from the Mystery Writers of America for his contribution to mystery writing in the United States, and the Pacific Northwest Library Association Young Readers' Choice Award for Encyclopedia Brown Keeps the Peace.

Reviews

Gr 3-5-Leroy "Encyclopedia" Brown only needs to ask one question to solve a problem. His dad, who is chief of police, can always depend on him. The 10 crimes here range from bullies taking totem poles to safe cracking to kidnapping and more. Encyclopedia's solutions are listed in the back of the book. This newest addition to the lengthy series is a good choice for critical thinkers or for getting children to start problem-solving.-Marsha Whitney, South Meadow School, Peterboro, NH
